Founded in 1997, the Upper Westchester Muslim Society (UWMS) was established to serve the growing Muslim community living and working throughout northern Westchester County, New York. Guided by the teachings of the Qur’an and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), UWMS is committed to fostering faith, community service, education, and meaningful relationships with neighbors of all backgrounds and faiths. What began with the dedication of approximately 35 founding members has grown into a vibrant and welcoming community that continues to embrace new members and families.

The UWMS masjid serves as a spiritual and community hub for daily and weekly prayers, Islamic education, religious ceremonies, youth and family programs, and social gatherings. In addition to serving its congregation, UWMS actively collaborates with other masjids and Islamic organizations throughout Westchester County and the greater New York/New Jersey area to strengthen community ties and promote shared initiatives.

In the summer of 2019, UWMS acquired its current home in Pleasantville, New York, officially opening its doors to the community in September 2019. Since then, the masjid has continued to grow as a welcoming space for worship, learning, reflection, and community engagement.

The Upper Westchester Muslim Society is a registered not-for-profit organization, and all charitable donations and contributions are tax-deductible.
